Working for Bob

Created by Lloyd 6 years ago
It’s with a heavy heart that I write this. Bob Spokes Passed away earlier this month. Bob was my mentor as an apprentice, along with many  others, he was firm but fair, he always had your interests at heart even if we didn’t appreciate it at the time. Bob was the foreman of the rewire project at  Windsor castle.Bob received the CBE for service to the royal family during this time. He loved his job.   He didn’t care who you were if your work wasn’t done to his standards he would get you to rip it out and start again. The car journey to and from work were always interesting to say the least! We mainly listening to Bob putting the world to rights and his political views on life as a 16 year old I didn’t have a clue what he was on about. When I progressed and moved in to the office Bob and Maurice East helped me tremendously introducing me to their contacts and supporting me on my journey and without them I wouldn’t have progressed to senior management.
The one great thing Bob offered was he gave everyone a chance and he knew that we all had to start somewhere. He gave you responsibility, he trusted you and you naturally repaid that trust. There are many an apprentice who were under Bobs control at some stage that went on to become business owners, directors, or bloody good electricians.
Rest In Peace and I for one will never forget the life lessons you have taught me.

God bless BOSS
